#4815 COMPARISON OF DIFFERENT ANTIVIRALS REGARDING THEIR ASSOCIATION WITH HOSPITAL-ACQUIRED ACUTE KIDNEY INJURY AMONG ADULTS WITH HERPES ZOSTER

چکیده
Abstract Background and Aims Antiviral therapy is commonly used to treat herpes zoster. Though antivirals are generally considered nephrotoxic, few studies compared the relative risk of acute kidney injury in patients with zoster that attributable different antivirals. We aim examine association use hospital-acquired (HA-AKI) among Chinese adults Method The study population was derived from China Renal disease System (CRDS), a retrospective cohort hospitalized 19 medical centers throughout China. selected CRDS 3,847 who received antiviral for during hospitalization. identify stage AKI using patient-level serum creatinine data according Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) criteria. risks HA-AKI treated Cox proportional hazards model, explored non-linear between accumulative dose penalized smoothing spline. Results Among patients, 1,585 (41.2%), 699 (18.2%), 599 (15.6%) 964 (25.1%) were acyclovir/valacyclovir, ganciclovir, penciclovir/famciclovir, foscarnet, respectively. incidence 4.9%, 2.9%, 2.8% 0.8%, respectively, foscarnet. Compared acyclovir/valacyclovir therapy, foscarnet associated 69% reduction (hazard ratio [HR], 0.31; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.14-0.66), while other nucleoside analogues marginally lower HA-AKI, HR (95% CI) 0.62 (0.36-1.09) penciclovir/famciclovir 0.67 (0.41-1.11) ganciclovir. When (HR, 2.72; CI, 1.28-5.75) showed higher HA-AKI. associations consistent across various subgroups sensitivity analysis. Conclusion therapies zoster, highest appears be dependent. Clinicians should exercise rational drug renal toxicity particular drug.

High Risk of Herpes Zoster among Patients with Advance Acute Kidney Injury – A Population-Based Study
The risk for herpes zoster (HZ) in acute kidney injury (AKI) survivors was never explored. We identified 2,387 adults in the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database who recovered from dialysis-requiring AKI and matched them with non-recovery and non-AKI patients by propensity score. During a mean follow-up of 2.7 years, the incidences of HZ were 6.9, 8.2 and 4.8 episodes per 1,000 pe...

Herpes zoster antivirals and pain management.
TOPIC Evaluation of evidence-based strategies for managing herpes zoster (HZ) and the pain of postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). CLINICAL RELEVANCE Approximately 20% of the world's population suffers from herpes zoster at least once in a lifetime, with 10% to 20% having ophthalmic involvement. Treatment of the acute disease with oral antivirals may reduce the incidence and severity of complication...
متن کاملRisk Factors for Herpes Zoster Among Adults
Background. The causes of varicella-zoster virus reactivation and herpes zoster (HZ) are largely unknown. We assessed potential risk factors for HZ, the data for which cannot be obtained from the medical sector. Methods. We conducted a matched case-control study. We established active surveillance in Olmsted County, Minnesota to identify HZ occurring among persons age ≥50 years during 2010-20...
متن کاملDifferent Biomarkers of Acute kidney Injury in Cancer Patients
Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) occurs if the kidneys suddenly lose their ability to remove waste products. When the kidneys lose their ability to filter, dangerous levels of waste products can accumulate, which can upset the chemical composition of the blood and urine. Chemotherapy is one of the methods used to treat or temporarily reduce cancer by using certain medications. The main task of this tr...
